Ken Larson and his wife Barb, of 57 years, have five adult children, 19 grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren. Ken is the founder of Slumberland Furniture, a leading home furniture retailer with 125 stores in a 12-state area.
Mr. Larson has been named Retailer of the Year by the National Home Furnishing Association; the highest award given to home furnishing retailer by their peers. He has been named Entrepreneur of the Year for Minnesota and North Dakota.
He has been active in a number of non-profit organizations, having served as a board and officer of Health East, a leading health care provider in the St. Paul area; chairman of the Board for the Evangelical Free Church of America and chairman of the board of the Evangelical Free Church Ministers and Missionaries Retirement Fund; a trustee for the University of Northwestern St. Paul; a board member of the Evangelical Council for Accountability, and a board member for the Navigators.
He currently serves as a board member of CULP, a public company serving the home furnishing industry; Trans World Radio, an international radio ministry; and the Evangelical Council for Financial Accountability.
Ken and Barbara serve together as board members of the Joshua Fund, a ministry founded by Joel Rosenberg, serving and blessing Israel and their neighboring countries.
Ken is also the founder of 40 WINKS, a non-profit that gives new beds to kids that are sleeping on the floor. To date, 40Winks has given more than 45,000 new beds to kids in the Midwest.
Ken and Barbara have founded God’s Ancient Library, a ministry that gives old, rare Torah scrolls to bible schools and seminaries. In the last six years, they have gifted 85 Torah’s to schools around the world.
Ken and Barb love spending time with their family. They are active in their church, and love traveling to see what God is doing all over the world.
